Attention Gerton Community and surrounding areas. Gerton Fire Rescue will be hosting a fundraiser for new thermal imaging camera's to replace some outdated Camera's that are in service at this time as well as adding to the capability to help improve our service to the Gerton community. Thermal Imaging helps Firefighters assess fire conditions in little to zero visibility. Also Assist in searching for trapped Victim's in fire conditions along with these few actions that this camera allows firefighter to do their job in a more proficient manner. The camera allows the first arriving Chief Officer & or the truck officer to locate non visible factors ( allows to scan for any signs of life not just in the event of a fire ).

We have to let everyone know, that due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to change the station number. It is now 828-290-6194. Our old number was with another carrier and was locked up by them. Please let everyone know. This number goes directly to the duty crew on shift and if they can not answer then please leave a message. As always if you have an emergency, please call 911.
Also the chief's number is 828-243-0411.
The station is open to the public, we do ask that you follow all distancing guidelines if you need to visit. Thank you for your support.
Welcome to the New Gerton Fire and Rescue Webpage. This will be a page where I can hopefully keep up with the most current information for you. We are currently working through this Covid-19 pandemic. While we have closed our station to visitors and we have temporarily suspended all burning permits, emergency response continues on. We are cleaning and continue training. Our training currently is being done virtually, which has been a challenge. Our hope is that soon we will be able to meet and train again at the station.
I would like to introduce our two newest members. We just accepted and are in the process of getting them prepared to respond on calls. Welcome to Jason Banks and George Bond. We hope to see them training and on calls.
Watch this page as I hope to keep everyone up to date on what is happening.
April 18, 2020
It has been an interesting week. We have lost two friends of Gerton Fire this week. We said goodbye to Tanker Waters, Chief of Tryon Fire Department and then Terry Elvi Foster from the sheriff's office. The loss of these great men will be felt for a while. We only ran one call since our last update and it was a fire alarm from burnt toast.
While the burn ban has been lifted, we ask for everyone to take caution. It is still very dry and with the low humidities and high winds the potential for a large brush fire still exist.
Our station still remains closed to the public for the protection of our members. We hope to gather together soon and return to life as normal. Thank you for supporting us as we work through these difficult times.
A quick shout out to State Farm and Montes Subs for the lunches they provided this last week. They were very much appreciated.
We are still here for you and we ask that you call 911 if you have an emergency. Take care and stay safe.
